Pom Pom Plea

Pom Pom Plea

This year it is 200 years since the birth of Edward Kemp, who designed Queens Park in Crewe. Creative Crewe is holding a ‘floral festival’ in the park and also throughout parts of the town centre to commemorate this.

One of their aims is to decorate trees in the town with poms poms dedicated to local schools in their school colour.

Gainsborough would like to become involved with this exciting project, by making as many pom poms as possible before we break up for the summer holidays.

We would like our pupils, parents and grandparents to get involved at home and make as many pom poms as possible. They can be any size; however larger ones will make more of an impact once they are hanging from a tree. If you would like to donate any ‘Gainsborough’ blue wool to our project we would be extremely grateful.

In the past our school’s knitting club and year six children contributed towards the knitted poppies, which adorned the trees throughout the centenary commemorations of WW1 at the memorial in the town - Gainsborough being the only school in Cheshire East to do so.

For every finished pom pom to arrive in school (from home) your child will receive a raffle ticket and could win a prize at the end of term.

Thank you in advance for your support.
