This term in maths we will using Power Maths to learn about: Place value within 1,000,000 (Roman numerals, numbers to 10,000, numbers to 100,000, numbers to 1,000,000, read and write 5- and 6-digit numbers, powers of 10, 10/100/1,000/100,000 more or less, partition numbers to 1,000,000), Place value within 1,000,000 (Number line to 1,000,000, compare and order numbers to 100,000 / 1,000,000, round numbers to the nearest 100,000 / 10,000 / 1,000 / 100 / 10), Addition and subtraction (Mental strategies addition / subtraction, add whole numbers with more than 4 digits, subtract whole numbers with more than 4 digits, round to check answers, inverse operations (addition and subtraction), multi-step addition and subtraction problems, solve missing number problems, solve comparison problems), Multiplication and division (multiples, common multiples, factors, common factors, prime numbers, square numbers, cube numbers, multiply by 10 / 100 / 1,000, divide by 10 / 100 / 1,000, multiples of 10 / 100 / 1,000), Fractions (equivalent fractions (unit and non-unit fractions, families of equivalent fractions), improper fractions to mixed numbers, mixed numbers to improper fractions, compare fractions less than 1, order fractions less than 1, compare and order fractions greater than 1, add and subtract fractions, add fractions within 1, add fractions with a total greater than 1, add to a mixed number, add two mixed numbers, subtract fractions within 1, subtract fractions from a mixed number, subtract from a mixed number - breaking a whole, subtract two mixed numbers, solve fraction problems, solve multi-step fraction problems).
Maths homework will be set on a weekly basis and will either be a written homework or computer based. If you have any difficulty accessing the internet, please notify your child's teacher and we will organise computer access for them within school. Homework is handed out to the children every Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday.
