Homework

Reading: Please ensure that your child has their clearly named bookbag (these can purchased from the office) with them every day. We encourage Reception pupils to read with you after school each day, using books from the reading scheme. In addition, we will also send home ‘sharing books’, which your child is free to change as often as they wish from the indoor and outdoor library areas. It is our hope that parents and carers will use the outdoor library shelves to change sharing books before and after school. It is important that when you have read together at home you make a note, sign or draw a smiley face, to let the class teacher know that you have shared the books. Examples of comments you make like to use:

  • Lovely reading today!
  • Henry was a little tired tonight, but enjoyed talking about the pictures.
  • Henry shared his reading book with Grandma this weekend.
  • Fantastic!

In class, your child will be encouraged to be independent and is taught to change their school reading scheme books as often as they wish! Happy reading!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO READ AT HOME AT LEAST 4 TIMES WEEKLY TO BE ENTERED INTO THE FRIDAY READING RAFFLE!
