At Gainsborough we recognise the importance of providing a curriculum that ensures not only breadth and balance, but also creativity and enjoyment, whilst maintaining a focus on pupil attainment. We believe that the most effective learning occurs when subjects are linked by an overarching theme. Sometimes this can be a historical theme or based on a text being studied in English. Each year group tailors the curriculum so that they and the children are inspired and eager to learn.

The school is required by law to teach all children aged five and above, the core and foundation subjects of the National Curriculum. The staff plan teaching sessions to include all statutory requirements. We aim to deliver the curriculum in an exciting and appropriate way, underpinned by progressive skills development.

A safe and supportive environment; safe from hurt by others, in what they say or do; safe to learn within an enquiring environment; encouraging creativity, and a questioning mind.

Smart ways of thinking and learning, behaving and the way in which we present ourselves, as a member of Gainsborough School.
