Fun Facts about the Nursery Team

Mrs Spencer loves to cook Caribbean food and always has her head in a book!

Mrs Wright loves to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoys singing with the 'Funky Choir'.

Mr Dunn used to have a mohawk and has had his hair over ten different colours.

Spring 1 - The children enjoyed listening to traditional stories - 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', ' Jack and the Beanstalk', 'The Gingerbread Man', ' The Three Billy Goats Gruff', 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Linked to these topics we have made bridges using lego blocks, threaded baskets, played games such as 'What time is it Mr Wolf'. The children took part in some amazing 'French lessons' from Claudia who works for a company called 'Frenchtastic'. They picked up simple French phrases really quickly.

Parents have also taken part in 'Stay and Play' sessions with their children. This has proved very popular. All the parents are keen to engage in their children's learning and have loved looking through their 'All about me' books.

Spring 2 - The topic was 'Spring, new-life and growing. We took part in a 'chicken hatching programme' supplied by a company called 'Living Eggs'. The children were so excited when the eggs were delivered and sat patiently waiting for the eggs to hatch. The children were able to handle the new chicks and they learnt about how to look after them. We also enjoyed sharing books such as 'Pig's Egg', 'The Hungry Caterpillar', 'The Frog who couldn't Croak'. These texts also helped us to learn about each of the life-cycles - of 'a chick, frog, and butterfly'.

Science Week, by Mrs Harding

Easter Lunch, by Mrs Harding

A safe and supportive environment; safe from hurt by others, in what they say or do; safe to learn within an enquiring environment; encouraging creativity, and a questioning mind.

Smart ways of thinking and learning, behaving and the way in which we present ourselves, as a member of Gainsborough School.

Treat others as you wish to be treated, help each other to be happy within school, greet others with a smile, help to create a happy and enthusiastic place to learn.
